Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Functions as the principal investigator, co-principal investigator, or project director of sponsored projects.

  • Has primary authority over the conduct of a project including protocol development and adherence, human subjects, personnel management and budget oversight.

  • Publishes study results as first author or co-author. Supervises other project staff. Functions as the primary programmatic liaison with the sponsor.

  • Supports the work of Emory's new AI.Humanity Initiative, which focuses on harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to advance human progress in areas such as health, social justice, business and law, and the arts and science to integrate AI into the mainstream components of health care delivery can help to improve health outcomes and patient experiences.

  • Serves as a key member of the AI.Humanity Initiative leadership team and is responsible for directing and coordinating the research efforts of the center in applying novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to radiology and pathology imaging towards disease detection, diagnosis, predicting outcome and treatment response assessment.

  • Works directly with the faculty director and synchronizes research efforts of the research faculty and post-docs as well as graduate research.

  • Supports the needs of the research team and organizes resources and timelines for optimum workflow.

  • Serves as the direct liaison between the faculty director and external collaborators and oversees the monitoring project progress.

  • Is the point person for intellectual property applications, invention disclosures and institutional research collaboration agreements and helps with writing and coordinating large, multi-PI grant proposals.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A PhD, DrPh, or other equivalent degree (MD) and five years of directly related experience.

  • A related master's degree and seven years of directly related experience or a bachelor's degree and nine years of directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a doctoral degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective management and leadership skills. Ability to serve as a technical advisor on research operations.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with leadership and external collaborators across functions, levels and departments toward shared objectives.

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong organizational skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing and managing multiple, diverse projects.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
