The Goizueta Business School is looking for a Director of Contract Administration to join their team. The director serves as a liaison between GBS faculty and staff and the Office of the General Counsel, the University Strategic Procurement Services, the Office of Technology Transfer, the Research Administrative Service (RAS) Office and/or the Advancement and the Alumni Engagement Office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Works with GBS academic and operating areas to support the development of clear statements of work, whether to be performed by a supplier for GBS activities or to be performed by GBS faculty, staff or students for an external entity.

  • Verifies that proposed GBS contractual commitments related to data storage and privacy can be executed by GBS Technology Services.

  • Represents the desired GBS faculty/staff business and/or academic outcomes with the appropriate Emory Central office during contract negotiations.

  • Interfaces with Emory OGC, as appropriate, to ensure appropriate protocols and processes are followed.

  • Coordinates with Emory OGC to standardize the development of contracting documents, ensuring consistency of contracts across the GBS.

  • While this position will not provide legal advice, it will review agreements, including but not limited to purchase agreements, data security agreements, non-disclosure agreements, Emory Executive Education custom solution agreements, corporate sponsorships and other GBS performed services to ensure compliance with OGC forms, Emory's policies, and alignment with GBS objectives.

  • Reviews contracts prior to signature by GBS Chief Business Officer or designated signatory following Emory University signatory authority policies.

  • Develops, documents, and implements contract management processes for all contracting undertaken on behalf of GBS, and ensures alignment with enterprise policies and practices.

  • Develops a GBS contract review workflow process that drives efficiencies in the contract development process and is aligned with existing enterprise systems, practices and policies.

  • Establishes workflow processes to provide standardized review and approvals facilitating efficient processing of complex documents.

  • Maintains all executed documents in a GBS or enterprise (if available) document repository, ensuring compliance with university policies and other requirements for document maintenance and storage.

  • Coordinates across GBS operational areas to consolidate agreements, where feasible, to have a minimum number of instruments active with any external partner.

  • Develops and performs reporting activities related to comprehensive contracting activities.

  • Manages the GBS contractual compliance requirements under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

  • Develops and executes a strategy to identify and capture new sources of funding for GBS faculty and academic center research, working in close partnership with the RAS Office for Colleges and Professional Schools and the Office of Foundation Relations (OFR).

  • Manages funding agreements and reports on funded activities.

  • Assists all GBS areas in identifying potential grants, other funding opportunities, and preparing applications and proposals.

  • In coordination with the University Strategic Procurement Services, manages the GBS contract portfolio for high-volume activities, such as catering and event services.

  • Is responsible for gathering input from key stakeholders and other sources for inclusion in the competitive bidding documents.

  • Works with Strategic Procurement Services to ensure that contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions that ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, business units and corporate policies and procedures are specified within the documents.

  • Supports GBS goals to increase contract versus noncontract volume and to increase overall savings while maintaining quality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD, MBA or equivalent advanced degree and five years of experience with contract development, negotiation, management, and compliance.

  • Ability to lead complex initiatives, improve processes, and influence executive leadership across the enterprise to gain alignment on strategies and execution.

  • Strong critical thinking, customer interface and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to negotiate and resolve disputes with a high level of professionalism.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
