JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Transportation, Dispatch and Logistics at Emory Healthcare is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the movement of patients into and within the healthcare system. This includes ensuring timely and efficient transportation services, coordinating logistics to support patient care, and enhancing patient flow to minimize delays and improve overall hospital efficiency. The director will collaborate with various departments to implement best practices while evolving innovative solutions that enhance patient experience and operational performance. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership for Patient Transportation, Dispatch, and Logistics staff and projects. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure efficient and effective operations. Develop, strengthen, and manage strategic relationships with external partners (referring entities and EMS teams) including ground ambulance, air ambulance, stretcher van, and wheelchair van services. Patient Transportation, Dispatch and Logistics: Oversee the management of patient transportation services to ensure timely and safe transportation of patients internally and externally between facilities. Identify and implement technology and processes to improve patient flow efficiency and tracking, could include ground and air transportation and internal hospital patient movement. Monitor performance metrics and ensure compliance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement strategies to reduce delay times and minimize bottlenecks in care progression. Utilize data analytics to monitor transportation and identify opportunities for improvement. Quality and Performance Improvement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of patient transportation, dispatch and logistics. Ensure team and process performance improvement initiatives align with KPIs and strategic objectives. Conduct regular assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards. Collaboration and Communication: Foster a collaborative environment with clinical and non-clinical departments to support integrated patient transportation and flow. Communicate effectively with health system leadership, staff, patients, and families regarding transportation and logistics processes. Represent the department in health system committees and working groups. Qualifications & Experience: Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, Emergency Medical Services, Patient Logistics, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in acute care healthcare operations, with a focus on ambulance patient transport, logistics, and patient flow operations and improvement. Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and manage diverse high-performing teams. Proven leadership experience with the ability to be an effective change agent. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and process improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care. Knowledge of standardized quality improvement principals, tools, and techniques. Knowledge of healthcare and ambulance regulations and compliance standards. Knowledge and understanding of various electronic health record systems and their interoperability. Knowledge and understanding of various bed management systems and their interoperability. Proficiency in using transport and logistics management software and systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, Power Bi. Work Environment: On-site. This position requires the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment. The role may involve travel between facilities and partner locations. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Capacity Command Center

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
