Environmental Resources Management, Inc. Consulting Associate, Architectural Historian (Entry Level) - R00024465 in Atlanta, Georgia

ERM is seeking an entry-level Architectural Historian for an immediate opening to work on various projects throughout the United States. Working with a team of Architectural Historians, this hire will lead historic structures field survey work and assist in office-based activities, including documenting and evaluating historic properties for eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and assessing project effects under the provisions of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. This individual will also participate in project planning and logistics and prepare appropriate report sections detailing the survey findings and assessment of resources. Assignments will be field and office-based, with the expectation that up to 75 percent of the time, for durations exceeding the work week will be in the field, especially during peak survey season. The hire will be attached to an ERM office in the Atlantic Central Business Unit with preference being given to Atlanta, GA, Richmond, VA, Washington D.C., or Charleston WV. Other geographies will be considered for the ideal candidate. This position will be full-time with benefits, however part time, or project term hire would be considered for the ideal candidate. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Architectural Historian will support cultural resource projects, which may include, but is not limited to: Planning, developing, and performing surveys of above-ground historic properties. Documenting and photographing buildings, structures, and other historic properties. Preparing appropriate sections of cultural resources reports describing the survey and analysis of above-ground historic properties. Preparation of state specific forms. Complying with corporate HSE. Performing other duties as assigned or required, inclusive of general administrative duties required for the day-to-day running of the office. REQUIREMENTS: B.A. in architectural history, historic preservation, or related field; MS preferred. Or the equivalency of 8 years related experience in lieu of education. Meet Secretary of the Interiors Standards for professional qualifications in Architecture History or Historic Architecture. Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience in survey and evaluation of historic architectural resources. Strong knowledge of architectural styles and materials. Strong writing skills and attention to detail with QA/QC skills. Understanding of visual APE and how it is refined based on the project and permitting standards. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time. Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week, when needed. Comfortable with taking to members of the public. Ability to travel frequently and on short notice. Ability to follow instructions and work independently and take initiative to meet project deadlines. Experience with photo documentation of structures. Periodic drug and alcohol testing required. Preferred Basic knowledge of architectural survey needs for federal and state agencies such as USACE, NPS, FERC, FCC, or DEQ. Experience with digital SLR cameras. GIS, graphics, and/or database experience. Experience driving and navigating in rural environments. For the Consulting Associate, Architectural Historian (Entry Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $63,207 $73,712 (USD). An employees pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the facto s noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
