This is a rare opportunity to join a HIGH-PROFILE CLINICAL NURSE RESEARCH PROGRAM at one of the largest public hospitals in the Southeast and an internationally recognized level I trauma center providing the highest level of care to critically injured patients.
Emory University School of Medicine is one of seven premier research organizations in the nation awarded to participate in the high profile trauma research program, Surgical Critical Care Initiative (SC2i); including The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, The Naval Medical Research Center, and Duke University School of Medicine.
This position oversees a team of Clinical Research Coordinators and RN's for high profile trauma research programs, including the Surgical Critical Care Initiative (SC2i) . *
Supervises, trains and evaluates Research Nurses in the performance of clinical and administrative responsibilities related to one or more research trials, studies or projects.
Assists in administering medications, performing routine nursing assessments and managing patient care activities.
Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of research protocols, data collection systems/instruments, and budgets.
Plans protocol, develops policies and establishes standards and procedures for the research unit.
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs patient recruitment efforts
Directs, coordinates and provides for the learning needs of patients and their families; may develop and conduct in-service education programs for other research personnel.
Assists with activities required for publication of research findings.
Conducts literature searches and corresponds with other agencies and investigators to obtain and share relevant project information.
May be called on to oversee publicity for research publications.
Licensed as an R.N. (Registered Nurse) in the state of Georgia,
5+ years of related nursing experience and/or research nursing, OR a combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC)
Knowledge of FDA/GCP and Clinical Research

The initiative brings together premier academic centers and research-focused organizations to develop clinical decision support systems.
Approaches developed by SC2i are expected to simultaneously improve the quality and reduce the cost of care in critically-ill patients, across any discipline requiring complex medical decision-making, including surgery, critical care, emergency medicine, orthopedics, transplant, and oncology, for the benefit of both military and civilian healthcare systems.
