Our high risk Developmental Progress Clinic serves outpatients from each of these facilities as well as other regional institutions. Each year our inpatient facilities provide the setting for more than 9,000 deliveries and more than 1,500 admissions to our intensive care units. Additionally, we see more than 1,200 patients each year in our high-risk follow-up clinics. The clinical care we provide is enhanced by our attention to two other important missions, education and research. Education is the impetus that drives successful academic goals, and to this end, we teach and mentor a variety of trainees, including medical students, residents, neonatal fellows, and students in our neonatal nurse practitioner program. The discovery of new knowledge through research is the means by which our care continually improves.
