Emory Healthcare Clinical Ethicist in Atlanta, Georgia


Reporting to EHC Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality & Patient Safety Officer with secondary reporting to EHC Chief Nurse Executive, this position will support the Ethics consultation service serving primary hospitals within the system. Join an active ethics consult service and participate in the educational and organizational ethics mission of the healthcare system. The Clinical Ethicist will have an affiliation with the Emory University Center for Ethics. Conduct Ethics consultations as a part of an active Ethics consult service. Assist in the continued development of the ethics consult service and the electronic tracking of the impact of ethics consultations. Participate in and provide support for Ethics Committees in the Emory Healthcare system. Participate in the provision of multidisciplinary Ethics education. Contribute to scholarship in clinical Ethics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree or doctoral degree in Ethics with expertise or focus in healthcare ethics, clinical ethics or bioethics. A minimum of 3 years of experience in providing healthcare ethics case consultation, either as an individual ethics consultant, ethics consultation team or through an active ethics committee. In-depth knowledge and skills in clinical ethics, ethics case consultation methodologies, and consultation documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work sensitively and professionally with patients and families as well as to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines. Excellent teaching abilities, both to individuals and groups in formal and informal presentation settings. Strong interpersonal skills
