Microsoft Corporation Associate Energy Program Manager, Cloud Operations & Innovation in Atlanta, Georgia

As an Associate Energy Program Manager, Cloud Operations & Innovation, you will support the evaluation of market strategies and conduct analysis of specific energy market dynamics, energy solutions, project economics, regulations, energy rates, and risks. You will identify and execute on energy supply opportunities, infrastructure development plans, and interconnection strategies to support Microsoft’s datacenter growth.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and maintains financial models and analytic documents to support the energy sourcing strategy for Microsoft’s datacenters to ensure optimal costs and sustainability goals. Develop an understanding of business requirements, support development of business cases, and coordinate across internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute the strategy with minimal guidance.

  • Support energy supply agreements and tariff negotiations to ensure that both price and capacity needs are met, while supporting Microsoft sustainability goals. Develops energy rate and tariff forecasts.

  • Monitor energy market trends, regulations, and policies and identify opportunities for Microsoft to achieve capacity delivery, cost, and sustainability goals.

  • Support the management and tracking of energy supply and connection contracts.

  • Develop scope of work/agreements to support initiatives and projects and assist with consultant management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 2+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ years of energy industry experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 5+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 3+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience related roles, and specific experience in the energy and utility industry in LATAM and Canada.

  • Broad understanding of the power industry, with specific focus on the mechanics of power markets – including Generation, Transmission & Distribution, Wholesale & Retail Markets.

  • Understanding and experience working with regulatory bodies and market operators in the energy and utility industry.

Sourcing and Category Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
