Speyside Bourbon Stave Mill Boiler Operator - Second Shift in Atkins, Virginia

The Boiler Operatoris an integral part of the Speyside manufacturing team and will perform a variety of tasks needed to maintainand repairequipment for daily usage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect equipment, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices and meters to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of all boilers, pumps, compressors and all equipment related to Boiler operations.
  • Adjust, repair, maintain, operate and observe the general safe operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Perform various troubleshooting and make mechanical adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain logs, monitor, track, and record gauge readings.
  • Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take corrective measures when necessary.
  • Maintain quality performance standards.
  • Monitor and maintain truck dust unloading system for silos.
  • Will move sawdust trailers into truck unloading system by means of yard tractor on this site.
  • Non-production shift operators will be responsible to walk various routes within the facility as a fire watch.
  • Will report any abnormalities accordingly to the next shift boiler operator or in case of an emergency to Maintenance Manager, Mike Bentley and/or Maintenance Lead, Larry Norton.
  • Will be required to assist maintenance with PM work if not needed in Boiler Room.
  • Comply with all standard safety practices and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Highschooldiploma orequivalent.
  • 1-2 years ofmaintenanceexperiencepreferred.
  • Previousmaintenanceexperience ina manufacturing environmentis a plus.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment consistently and safely to keep up with the flow of production.
  • Ability to follow and execute both written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Must be dependable and have an excellent attendance record.
  • Must be aself starterwith a team player mentality.
  • Must be capable of driving industrial trucks (including forklifts, truck with snowplow, scissor lift, and sweeper) and pass safety requirements.
  • Must always comply with all standard safety practices and procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, and climb ladders.
  • Must have the ability to maneuver up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours if needed (including call-out duty).
  • Ability to developindustrial electricity troubleshooting skills.
  • May be required to obtain a State of Ohio Boiler Operator License.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily located within the Cooperage. The Cooperage has season dependent temperature fluctuations and loud noise from operating equipment within it. Some of the time will be spent working around wood cutting saws that produce a minimal amount of sawdust. This position may be required to work weekends when production needs arise. May be required to climb ladders. Must be able to operate manlifts as well as forklifts.

Physical Requirements

This position requires a lot of walking to and from machineryand possible standing for long periods of time.The maintenance technicianwill work in a variety of physical positions, including but not limited to, bending at the waist, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and reaching.
