Foreman

The Colas Group operates internationally in every aspect of construction and maintenance for roads and for other types of transport infrastructure as well as on projects involving urban development and recreational facilities. The COLAS operation in Ireland primarily involves the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion manufacturing, chemical manufacturing and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local roads network. COLAS in Ireland is an all island cross border business operating from 14 locations.

Mission

The Foreman will support the Project Manager and Engineers in the delivery of works orders. These orders may include construction activities, traffic management, asset inspection, defect repair and other maintenance activities required on the contract. The Foreman must be able to get the best out of their work colleagues and subcontractors. Though it is a hands-on role with a proportion of time on direct work (e.g. General Operative responsibilities), there will be a need to be able to deliver and organise construction activities. You will observe and comply with all lawful instructions, rules, regulations, and policies confirmed to you from time to time by Company. During your employment, as the business needs of the Company change, it may be necessary to alter or expand your duties within the general scope of your role or change your function. Any such changes shall be made in consultation with you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate operations and oversee workers and plant onsite

  • Report on progress to managers, engineers etc

  • Order Raw Materials off only Approved Suppliers, Identify Potential Suppliers

  • Planning, and scheduling and supervising of works as they progress

  • Ensure operations are completed to standard

  • Communication with Site Supervisor/ Operations Manager/ Contracts Manager regarding specific site issues

  • Agreement of Measures

  • Monitoring the Quality of works as it progresses

  • Review of Jobs to required standard upon completion

Profile

Skills and Experience

• Civil engineering and construction experience

• Have an ability to work with all levels of team members in the organisation

• Communicate effectively with the Team

• Resolve conflict constructively and efficiently with the help of HR if needed

• Be Pro-active in seeking feedback
