The Role The Shipping Lead performs various duties within the department while serving as a point of contact for the shipping associates, as well as, internal and external customers. This role is located in Athens, Ohio. The Responsibilities Participates in the daily shipping processes for the picking, packing and shipment of finished goods. Assists and participates in the inventory control methods within shipping department. Ensures materials are warehoused according to proper storage requirements defined by products and QA guidelines Ensures appropriate material rotation; such as FIFO and LIFO Removes outdated and nonconforming materials Participates in weekly cycle counts Supports the efforts of the shipping staff to optimize performance including training. Assists the Supervisor in the controlling and trouble-shooting of the shipping floor activities and issues. Assists Supervisor in maintenance and review of shipping paperwork to ensure completeness, accuracy and specifications for shipment are achieved. Assists Supervisor in maintenance of the established QSP, QSOP and GMP guidelines for the area. Assists Supervisor in the process improvements of material flow, lean manufacturing and procedure changes as required. Assists the Supervisor in trouble shooting potential issues in the shipping processes and inventory control methods. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills at all times with all levels of staff. Follows established processes and operational policies regarding inventory control and shipping processes. The Individual Required: High school diploma or equivalent Understanding of GMP and FDA procedures A minimum of 2 years shipping process experience Basic math, reading and comprehension skills Exceptional teamwork, cooperation and guidance skills Good verbal communication and writing skills Basic computer skills; email, word processing and excel spreadsheets knowledge Preferred: Previous leadership experience Experience with ERP software The Key Working Relationships Internal Partners: Operations The Work Environment Typical manufacturing environment. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours required to meet production and work project deadlines. Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time. Ability to bend and move without constraint.
