Kent State Medical Assisting in Ashtabula, Ohio

Kent State Ashtabula Campus: Physical Location:

 Ashtabula Campus - Ashtabula, OH, Geauga, and any other campus where the program is located

Basic Function:

The College of Applied and Technical Studies at Kent State University seeks full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position in Medical Assisting (MA) at the Ashtabula, Geauga and any other campus where the program is located. This position will provide oversight on any additional KSU campus where the program is approved to be offered.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

The successful candidate will serve as the Medical Assisting (MA) program director, participate in establishing and maintaining MA program accreditation, curriculum development, and teach courses.

Recruit students

Advise MA students

Develop and maintain relationships with practicum sites

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)

Current medical assistant certification from an accredited program, or relevant healthcare experience (i.e. RN, LPN, PA, etc...) enabling the successful candidate to obtain a Medical Assisting Certification.

Three years experience in a healthcare facility including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by MAs.

Preferred Qualifications -- if applicable:

A minimum of one-year teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent must be able to work evenings and weekends, and to travel on and off-campus.  Incumbent should be able to operate all tools commonly found in a theatrical scene shop.

Must pass a security check.
