Job Description Summary

The Asheville Manufacturing Engineering Leader will oversee and optimize the plant's daily operational activities to ensure the continuous development, sustainment, and improvement of manufacturing processes. This role entails leading the manufacturing engineering team to directly support and achieve the plant's Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives. The incumbent must possess robust technical expertise and demonstrate effective cross-functional collaboration to meet and exceed performance targets. The role requires operating with a degree of autonomy and exhibiting influential leadership to drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Defines and controls production process including tooling and equipment for machining aerospace parts. Validates design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. Includes team management of 10-15 salaried Manufacturing Engineers.

  • Influences the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources, process standardization, capital investment, and policy formulation. Leads amongst peers at the staff level; inspires and motivates change through an innovative approach to achieving long term goals.

  • Exercises advanced judgment to make informed decisions and manage complex tasks or issues within operational, manufacturing, technology, or engineering domains. Demonstrates the capability to critically evaluate the quality of information provided and engage stakeholders with pertinent inquiries.

  • Coaches and develops team members to meet performance expectations, achieve career goals, and use our lean operating system to deliver value.

  • A relentless problem solver: ability to identify challenges through daily management, Genba, and operating rhythms; coach team to solve the issues most impactful to improving products and processes. Stays informed of industry trends that may influence the way we work and business strategy.

  • Demonstrates the capability to challenge established norms and influence critical decision-making processes, taking full ownership of outcomes. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university + minimum of 5 years manufacturing or design engineering experience
