Akima Senior Operations Engineer / Team Lead - Mac in Ashburn, Virginia
Cloud Lake Technology is looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to support a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) prime contract that provides comprehensive support services for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to include planning, building, testing, deployment, stabilization of workstation changes, software distribution, patch management, service management, and program and administrative management related tasks. As part of this technical role, you will also serve as the Operations Team Lead for Apple MacOS systems. Responsible for the administration of a distributed macOS desktop environment, utilizing enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, technology management and analytics for on-premises, hybrid, and internet-based devices. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Apple Engineering Architect to achieve customer requirements, provide expertise enhancing the macOS end-user experience, implementing engineering changes, and promoting security compliance. Responsibilities
Manages the operations and maintenance of the configuration management, patch management, application deployment and device imaging Apple MacOS-based solutions
Provides system expertise in the areas of design, configuration, implementation, and administration to effectively support and grow new and existing technologies
Implements, operates, and maintains software distribution and end-point client administration tools through Jamf Pro
Provides support for all Mac equipment including system, application, and server issues
Completes patching events for customers. Utilizes Jamf to ensure a standard version level of system OS and applications across all Macs
Mastery of macOS security settings and system hardening
Experience providing customer support to clients at all levels within an organization including VIP and Senior Executive leadership
Experience supporting common macOS applications as well as third party applications running on macOS such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365 Apps
Strong experience with using and administrating Jamf Pro, including on premises server setup, configuration, testing, and backups
Experience using terminal commands and simple scripts such as Microsoft Power Automate and Jamf Pro webhooks
Performs Tier III/IV troubleshooting of macOS or Jamf issues
Performs administration and systems management functions to maintain stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture
Evaluates, tests, and integrates workstation changes
Ensures implementation of security and compliance features
Provides technical leadership on major tasks or technology assignments
Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives
Ensures preparation and delivery of daily system health reports
Drives technical innovation and process improvement efforts
Leads, motivates, and communicates with your technical team to ensure that technical requirements are met
Supports corporate initiatives and projects as needed
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess 5+ years of hands-on experience demonstrating a proven track record in successfully administering and managing complex information technology systems, with a focus on Apple MacOS devices. This includes real-world experience verifying stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture in the context of Apple MacOS devices and Jamf. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in configuring and managing Active Directory, implementing security and compliance features, and optimizing endpoint solutions
The candidate shall currently have a bachelor's or master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology. A master's degree is preferred but not mandatory. Demonstrated hands-on experience of 9+ years in verifying stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture in the context of Apple MacOS devices and Jamf will be considered in lieu of a college degree
The candidate shall have one or more of the following professional certifications: Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA), Apple Device Support certification, Apple Deployment and Management certification, Jamf 300 certification, Jamf 400 certification. Equivalent certifications may be considered
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (written and verbal) with experience briefing senior federal executives
Be able to obtain and maintain a favorable CBP suitability determination
Must be a U.S. citizen
Senior level knowledge for Jamf configuration and operations to include patching, configuration profiles, operating system upgrades, security configurations, and Jamf server upgrades
Enterprise-scale technical experience with on premise, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, technology management and analytics for on-premises and internet-based devices
Advanced understanding of macOS operating system, to include image management, OSD (operating system deployment) and servicing updates.
Strong understanding of web browser management for security zones, document modes, and add-ons. The ability to troubleshoot web apps, site security or compatibility related issues for Safari, Chrome, and FireFox
Excellent data analysis skills
Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including a superior ability to work effectively at the highest levels within an interagency environment on complex issues requiring consensus-building
Demonstrated ability in developing effective professional and interpersonal relationships with peers and colleagues across multiple functional groups and external partners
Ability to balance responsibilities among assigned activities; including the ability to manage transitions effectively from task to task, and proven adaptability to varying customer needs
