Job Summary:\ Daniels Construction, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated Concrete & Sitework Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in a variety of skilled and unskilled duties to carry out the company\'s needs to successfully complete various construction projects. The employee will be involved in tasks for work associated with, but not limited to bridges, roads, drainage, electrical substations, water and wastewater facilities, underground utilities, excavations, dams, retaining walls, site development, rip rap slopes, demolition, hydroelectric plants, pump stations, lagoons, concrete, carpentry, and other projects.

Essential Job Functions(the listed examples are considered essential to this position, but may not include all duties performed):

  • To be dependable, responsible, and respectful.
  • Proper and safe use of hand tools used in construction such as hand shovels, rakes, picks, crowbars, brooms, wheelbarrows, and the like.
  • Proper and safe operation of vehicles, power tools, and light or medium equipment used in construction activities.
  • Loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
  • Operating various machines and equipment such as air drills, jackhammers, cement mixers, and pumps.
  • General housekeeping of assigned work site.
  • Compliance with Daniels Construction safety and all company policies.
  • Work associated with scaffolds, ramps, and braces.
  • Traveling out of town to work on remote job sites as directed.
  • Work associated with traffic control and MUTCD requirements.
  • Work associated with OSHA regulations and training.
  • Work associated with general equipment preventive maintenance (greasing, fueling, cleaning).
  • Physical requirements such as frequent twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting (up to 80 lbs), carrying, grasping, handling, climbing, reaching, and balancing.

Education and Experience:\ The desired minimum requirement for this position shall be a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably some post-high school training or related heavy carpentry/construction knowledge.

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the general public (need to have excellent verbal skills and a positive attitude).

  • Basic knowledge of construction techniques and the equipment necessary to do the work productively and safely.
  • Ability to work alone at times.
  • Need to have basic math skills and be able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to effectively work with other crews/co-workers to allow positive morale and productivity.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions/instructions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
