Amazon Technical Program Manager, Enterprise Engineering in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Our team is developing greenfield software aimed at improving Amazonian productivity, and meet Amazon's peculiar business needs. Software under development will enable Amazonians to provide insights into their content. The software will provide integrations with first and third party systems and providing exceptional value for business teams.

Our in-flight project is to enabling Amazonians to concentrate their content from first and third party content storage solutions. Future development will introduce new functionality that will bridge gaps between established business processes lacking product specific features.

Technical Program Managers are the glue that keeps Amazon programs progressing forward. In this role you will have an opportunity to meet business leaders across the enterprise, collect customer and stakeholder feedback, shape the strategic vision of our business solutions. This work involves project planning and stakeholder management, technical and non-technical communications, partnering directly with talented engineers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Keep the team focused on our business outcomes by balancing strategic and tactical workloads.

  • High quality, concise reports, writing, and verbal communication

  • Resourceful and inventive to remove blockers

  • Help manage team priorities across operational, strategic, project, and emergent requests

A day in the life

You keep up with the rythum of the business; delivering a variety of high quality business reports, and represent those reports in review meetings. You partner with engineers to understand the technical direction of the project, documenting successes, risks, and working to unblock blockers.

About the team

Our team of seven people is comprised of engineering talent from Ireland to Seattle. Our current remit involves building new software, as well as maintaining and eventually deprecating existing platforms/services used company wide. We are a small, but capable team inside of Enterprise Engineering, a 400 member strong organization providing internal tools and services Amazonians use across all business lines. Our organization's scale is vast, and our services are equally large, complex, and highly available

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 2+ years of software development experience

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
