Amazon Software Dev Engineer II, Global Hiring Science in Arlington, Virginia

Description

The Global Hiring Science organization owns and develops products and services using AI/ML to provide bar raising hiring experiences for Amazon. The organization is made up of interdisciplinary teams composed of applied scientist, research scientists, and software engineers.

We're looking for a software engineer who is capable of working alongside scientists. Familiarity with Machine Learning lifecycle management, such as model training, validation, debugging tools, and analysis techniques would be ideal. However, you'll have an equal opportunity to learn these skills on the job as you work to support AI/ML models in production for both internal and external products.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications.


  • Work closely with scientists to enable AI/ML products.

  • Understand a broad range of data structures and algorithms and apply them to deliver high-performing applications.


  • Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.


  • Design code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.


  • Collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a large, geographically distributed organization.

  • Provide on-call production support for applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
