Amazon Program Manager, Solutions Architecture, WWPS SOLUTIONS ARCHITECTS in Arlington, Virginia

Description

How does AWS manage to keep thousands of technical experts in the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) Tech Team focused on delivering for our customers? In part, with a highly effective Program Management Office (PMO) that delivers programmatic and operational support. Our team has an opening for a Program Manager (PM), and we’re looking for a multi-skilled individual with plenty of Bias for Action and a passion for Delivering Results.

The WWPS Tech Team provides multi-faceted technical support to our Public Sector sales organization. This support includes Solution Architecture, Customer Solutions Management, Chief Technologist, and Engineering. The WWPS Central Program Management Office (CPMO) reports directly to the Vice President of the WWPS Tech Team. The CPMO is responsible for delivering strategic and high-impact projects (non-technical and mostly internal). The team implements scalable, streamlined mechanisms to manage the Tech Team’s rhythm of business (business reviews, operations planning, goal definition, and strategy development.) As a CPMO Program Manager you will collaborate with Senior leaders and deliver projects on-time and with targeted quality. You will be responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle for small to mid-size projects and support Senior Program Managers on larger initiatives. You will operate with autonomy and be responsible for building relationships, gaining consensus, and aligning teams toward coherent strategies. You will be expected to anticipate bottlenecks and escalate when appropriate. You will lead Tech Team weekly business reviews and be responsible for reporting and managing project performance.

The CPMO PMs are leaders within the organization and expected to lead with high judgement, facilitate and negotiate across all levels, and effectively drive outcomes. You must be flexible to adapt to new and changing business requirements, able to deal with and resolve ambiguous problems, and capable of exercising sound judgment. The right candidate for this PM role is a technology enthusiast who likes to learn and apply new tooling and automation to reduce manual operation labor. The right candidate will have demonstrable expertise with Microsoft Office products and project management tools such as Smartsheets and Asana. Familiarity with coding and/or scripting is a big plus!

Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success at Amazon, which is why we offer a flexible schedule. We focus on Delivering Results, not time spent working, which gives you freedom to have a more productive and well-balanced life - both in and outside of the office.
