The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a Transportation Planner with strong administrative and multi-tasking skills to support the Sustainable Development program, specifically related to roadway safety studies addressing multiple modes of transportation using the roadway (e.g., pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists). This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with senior-level staff and participate in a wide range of activities

with stakeholdersin the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area

related to coordinating and planning for roadway safety audits in select high-injury roadway corridors targeted by the regional Roadway Safety Plan (RSP) and Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP), developing safe-routes-to-school plans in targeted corridors, educating the general public on safety, attending outreach events, developing a regional bike safety action plan, and overseeing consultant schedules.Applicants wishing to be considered for this position should apply online athttps://www.nctcog.org/Careers. This is a grant-funded full-time position that isanticipated to last no more than two years, contingent on availability of funds. Continuing employment opportunities may be available.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assisting with the management of consultant contracts and review of deliverables, presentation materials, and monthly invoices
• Working with partner agency staff and consultants to conduct roadway safety audits and develop safe-routes-to-school plans
• Scheduling and participating in meetings and site visits related to roadway safety audits and safe-routes-to-school plans
• Drafting correspondence, documentation, reports, meeting summaries, and executive summaries
• Preparing and delivering oral presentations
• Researching and collecting data for land uses, zoning, crashes, and as-built roadways
• Helping to educate the public relative to the safety and accessibility of pedestrian and bicycle facilities
• Creating detailed project maps for supervisor review

Required Skills

• Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
• Good communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with team members, and present ideas
• Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree inanalytical, quantitative methods (urban/transportation planning, community and regional planning, highway safety, public health, etc.)
• At least one year of work-related experience

Starting Salary Range

Minimum of $54,009.00 - $64,810.80 annually
