Job overview and responsibilities

This operational support position is designed to grow the candidate's knowledge of United’s best practices, Digital Technology's tools, processes and functions with oversite and mentoring from senior leaders in the Field Services organization. The role is responsible for managing all the logistics aspects of small to medium size projects that are complex, helps coordinate project plans, training, execution, ensures functionality and quality of solution, is involved in project’s Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Voice Over IP (VOIP), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), mobility platforms and infrastructure activities that comply with United’s IT critical infrastructure standards. The role will include interfacing between Field Services and internal/external business partners.

The successful candidate must possess excellent organization and communication skills with a strong background in project management, strong understanding of telecommunications standards and practices, and excellent customer service skills.   • Supports regional airports, customer service centers, contact centers and all other United Airlines facilities

  • Duties include walkthroughs, Digital Technology (DT) equipment support, preventative maintenance, mobility product support, DT infrastructure support, operational equipment and communication rooms, base location inventory management and supply storage. Creates a work environment that embraces and appreciates diversity

  • Performs system maintenance/administration, diagnostics, automated imaging of PC equipment/IT Infrastructure, installation and removal of PC equipment, assist end users with troubleshooting of device performance issue

  • Monitors regional Digital Technology (DT) stock levels and maintains well organized warehouse

  • Attends regional project meetings and provides project tracking and analysis

  • Supports the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables

  • Coordinates activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers

  • Network Engineering, WAN Engineering, WiFi Engineering and Mobility Engineering

  • Ensures the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) room and Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) conform to established enterprise/industry standards Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), Telecommunications Industry association (TIA)

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree Information Technology, Computer Science or Equivalent

  • Certification in Low Voltage Communications

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of IT experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Understands the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers, acts as their advocate, and communicates transparently to build their trust and respect required.

  • General knowledge of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, load balancers, firewall

  • Aptitude for problem solving, looking beyond the obvious and not stopping at the first answer

  • Strong level of poise in high pressure environments, first level of escalation for team members

  • Active commitment to self-development

  • Involves demonstrating a desire to dedicate time and energy to accomplish goals, tasks, assignments, etc. Will do what it takes on a 24x7x365 basis to support the operation required.

  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies

  • Knowledge of Mobility IOS/Android, Windows and LAN room

  • F5 Load Balancing experience

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
