United States Steel Shipping Utility Operator, BRS in Arkansas

This position is a Shipping Operator responsible to ensure that the activities within the shipping department are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives within the shipping department on their respective crew assignments.
**Digital assessment test is required to be completed within 14 days of submitting application.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are followed and a priority.
Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in job areas and grounds.
Assist the shift supervisor with day to day operations as needed: assist team with daily operations within shipping.
Safely be able to perform all tasks within the shipping department as needed, crane, rail, taylor and packaging.
Support all areas as needed to strengthen our continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
Quality, detail, and safety oriented; mechanically inclined and self-motivated.
Good insight into team dynamics with strong verbal communication skills and computer literate.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
High School diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus.
Previous steel mill experience preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment and the ability to routinely climb, lift and move heavy objects during shift may be required. This position can and will be indoor and outdoor work with expected environmental conditions. Typical work hours are 12 hour shifts rotating. This results in working some weekends/holidays and overtime.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
