Overview
The primary responsibility of the QA Lab Supervisor is to direct team of specialized union employees ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices and safe operating procedures are followed. The QA Lab Supervisor directly supervises employees.
Essential Duties & Job Requirements
Achieve results through subordinates in a unionized environment. Manages shift laboratory, including employee compliance with procedures, resolving employee problems, and assigning work.
Manages the data systems used to report and analyze results of lab activities.
Conduct regular shift meetings regarding safety, production, quality and other important information.
Reviews procedures and identifies improvement areas, waste, and how to easily communicate the results to production.
Ensure all required quality and safety documentation is completed and delivered in accordance with department and company requirements. Conduct safety audits.
Participates in Continuous Improvement activities.
Performs duties for COA as needed on a back-up basis.
Develop and maintain a good working climate by developing a team.
Must be able to work effectively in a multi-tasking work environment, and be familiar with quality assurance systems and standards.
Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and have the ability to interact positively with others within the corporate team and the management teams within each facility
Demonstrated success in meeting deadlines, providing education (seminars/training), and being innovative and proactive in solving problems with groups of people.
Must be able to lead a QA program to meet strategic goals.
Strong organization, planning and decision making abilities.
Demonstrated understanding of sound HSSE practices and experience with quality systems (ISO, SQF, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as SharePoint, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
A knowledge of food product packaging operations
Education and/or Experience
3 or more years of experience in a quality assurance position.
1-3 years of leadership experience in a Union environment preferred
Experience working in a CPG or Food Manufacturing environment required.
High school degree or equivalent is required.
BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college/university preferred.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays, if appropriate.
