Primary Function Plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received from suppliers ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so that supplies and equipment are delivered to the proper departments in an effective and efficient manner according to departmental procedures. The supervisor will also oversee all shipping activities in accordance with company and departmental priorities. Responsibilities Plans and coordinates work assignments for the Shipping department. Trains, motivates and monitors the performance of Receiving/Shipping personnel. Maintains equipment used in the department to assure that employees move supplies and equipment is a safe manner. Responsible for inventory management, cycle counts, and spot checks. Handle freight issues (lost freight. refused freight, etc) Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storage, shipping and salvaging of equipment and supplies. Provide and necessary training to staff on shipping procedures, use of FedEx shipping systems and international shipping regulations. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Role Specific Responsibilities Qualifications Associate Degree 3+ years of related experience or training, preferably shipping/receiving 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience. Additional Qualifications: Automated receiving experience, SAPpreferred. B.S or B.A. degree preferred. Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures is a plus. Ability to set work assignments and schedules for staff. Effective communications both written and verbal are required.
