The Welding Engineer is primarily responsible for analyzing the methods and sequence of welding operations to ensure high levels of quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction. The Welding Engineer must ensure that customer requirements are properly known and complied with in the production area; by determining welding processes and advising on visual inspection of the weld.

  • Welder qualifications and their maintenance.

  • Machine qualification

  • Creation and maintenance of welding routes.

  • Audit attention.

  • Attention to complaints and disagreements in the area.

  • Responsible for manufacturing engineering in the welding area.

  • Creation of procedures and reports.

  • Control of welding metrics

    Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering Studies (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, etc.)

  • General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to the locality.

  • Essential experience in industry codes (Example: AWS D17.1, ASME SEC IX, API 1104)

  • General knowledge of ISO/TS/AS9100 quality systems.

  • General knowledge of pre-weld chemical cleaning processes and post-weld non-destructive testing (Visual, Liquid Penetrant and X-Ray).

  • General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.

  • Project Management and Administration

  • Fluent English for business conversations.

  • Interpretation of engineering blueprints (Geometric Dimensions).

  • Skilled in the elaboration of Process AMEFs and Control Plans.

  • Proven ability to develop engineering drawings in software such as CATIA or Solid Works.

  • Professional use of advanced Microsoft Office to manage reports and executive presentations.

    Experience

  • 2 years in a similar position

  • Experience in welding Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Inconel, and Titanium.

  • Desirable experience in stainless steel pipe welding.

  • Experience and welder qualification in Industry Standards (ANSI, API, AWS, etc.)
