Collins Aerospace has a career opportunity for a Senior Database Systems Engineer to join their Airport Products team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The candidate will contribute to the development of new products as well as maintain existing ones and become a subject matter expert on the entire suite of airport products.
Candidate will be based in Tulsa, Oklahoma or Annapolis, Maryland. A relocation package will be provided when we go back to the office.
Responsibility for the evaluation and selection of database software
Set and maintain database standards
Supervision of modifications to any existing database software to meet the needs of product requirements.
Performance tuning of database systems
Responsibility for maintaining the integrity and performance of development, lab and production databases
Must guarantee that data is stored securely and optimally
Informing end users of changes in databases and train them to utilize systems
Ensuring the security of data
Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards
Create automation for repeating database tasks
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors
Be available for on-call support as needed
Current Support Activities:
*Calls from Airport Sites might contain one or more of the following items.
SQL Health Checks
Proper SQL tuning
Checking for expensive queries and stored procedures
Determining deadlock issues
Monitoring performance counters
Database failover and recovery issues
Determining IO performance and impact to data integrity
Data corruption root cause and repair
Database impact to product performance
Product reports performance
Disk space issues resulting from a poorly configured SQL server
Database purging needs and troubleshooting
Root cause analysis of all support calls participated in
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools such as MS SQL Profiler
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Impeccable attention to detail
PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills are preferred
Experience with Mongo DB, AWS, Windows Server OS, MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
