BAE Systems Level 3 HPC Software Engineer in Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Job Description

The Software Engineer shall be responsible for developing, sustaining, and troubleshooting a software suite of applications and possibly future capabilities as needs arise. Software development activities include implementation, testing, and integration with other COTS and FOSS products, packages, and libraries. The Software Engineer must have a demonstrated understanding of the software development life cycle.

The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diversesoftware systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processingintensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulationof extremely large data sets, real-time systems, businessmanagement information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. Worksindividually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests softwarecomponents for adherence to the design requirements anddocuments test results. Resolves software problem reports.Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open-Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. Experience developing in Unix. Ability to perform shell scripting. Working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Master s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college oruniversity, plus three (3) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similarscope, type, and complexity.

OR

Bachelor s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college oruniversity, plus five (5) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similarscope, type, and complexity

OR

Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Position Required Skills

  • Experience using the Linux CLI

  • Experience developing scripts using Bash/Python

  • Experience developing with Java in a Linux environment

  • Experience developing with the Spring Framework including Spring Boot, Spring Data and Spring Integration

  • Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containerd

  • Familiar with Messaging Frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka

  • Familiar with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as Bamboo and GitLab CI

  • Familiar with IaC principles, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible

  • Experience using Git Source Control System

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Position Desired Skills

  • Familiar with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes

  • Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services on Kubernetes

  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $128700 - $244500

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
