Position Summary:The Department of Physics and Astronomy within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a 90% contract, one year, term funded faculty position at the rank of Term Instructor responsible for teaching lower division Physics and/or Astronomy laboratory courses.

100%This position will conduct instructional activity and service as part of a bipartite workload. Teach lower division laboratory courses in Physics and/or Astronomy. Coordination responsibilities include organizing course and lab maintenance.Essential

The Department of Physics and Astronomy within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), is accepting applications for a one year, 90% Term Instructor position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching lower division laboratory courses in Physics and/or Astronomy. A strong interest in and aptitude for teaching undergraduates in introductory physics and astronomy and associated laboratories is vital. The start date for this position isAugust 8, 2021, with the potential for renewal thereafter. Salary is commensurate with experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Candidates must have documented, successful experience teaching Physics and Astronomy labs at the college level, experience teaching at a U.S. Institution, willingness to work with students and sensitivity to diverse student population. Collegiality is a must.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Length of time and type of experience required for this position should be appropriate to the rank of Term Instructor.

College level teaching experience required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

MS in Physics and/or Astronomy (or related field). A Ph.D. is preferred, but not required for this term position.
