Worley ECR Structural Welder/ Fitter (Construction) Anchorage Fab Shop, AK in Anchorage, Alaska

Our Structural Welder/Fitters perform welding of metal components for fabrication or repair, plant equipment and structures according to layout, blueprints or work orders using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.

This is an Anchorage-based position, working at Worley'sAnchorage Fabrication Facility,and is not rotational.

Required to pass structural weld tests upon offer. Tests include Vertical and Overhead (Dual Shield and Stick, 80.18 Rod)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of the AWS, ANSI and ASME codes.
  • Experience using oxy/acetylene torch.
  • Knowledge of carbon steel and other alloy metals.
  • Knowledge of operation of welding equipment, electrodes, fluxes, shielding gasses and welding processes.
  • Knowledge of the various sizes and grades of welding electrodes, the proper use of electrodes and welding processes, the appearance of a proper fit-up and the appearance of properly cleaned and prepared surfaces.
  • Ability to properly use and care for the tools and equipment and welding electrodes commonly used on an industrial projects, as well as operation of all hand and power tools associated with welding processes.
  • Ability to prep steel shapes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering prints.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform assigned tasks with limited general technical guidance.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders of various heights.

The employee must be able to lift and move up to forty (40) pounds,stand for long periods of time, extended periods of kneeling and or bending, ascending or descending ladders or stairs, and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, extreme cold or heat and high noise levels. Employee will work in an environment where there is risk that they will be exposed to toxic, caustic and/or hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment while on the job. The work generally requires routine walking, sitting, standing, squatting, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching and carrying items. An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in an industrial environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands.

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years' experience in structural welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Welders must pass structural weld test upon offer; welding tests include Vertical and Overhead Tests (Dual Shield and Stick, 80.18 Rod).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Preferred Experience:

  • Three (3) years' experience in structural welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
