What can you expect?
As the Health, Safety, and Environment Manager, you will work onsite in Anchorage, AK and lead all efforts to ensure the safety of employees. You will be responsible for strengthening our culture focused on health, safety, and the protection of our environment by adopting and implementing best practices for HSE and risk management. You will drive safety in operations alongside project managers, develop and implement both a corporate and project-based health and safety program, perform safety audits, lead investigations, and develop and build company-wide HSE culture and goals.
How will you do it?
- You will oversee the development and implementation of an employee Behavior Based Safety system.
- Champion a culture focused on the health, safety of employees and on the protection of the environment by adopting best practices for HSE and risk management
- Leverage professional expertise to coach managers, leaders, and employees to drive ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of the operation's HSE culture.
- Provide leadership to develop processes and programs to strengthen and enhance company-wide HSE leadership.
- Ensure that the company and projects follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local Safety and Health Regulations.
- Ensure that proper record keeping and reporting is completed and is in compliance with OHSA and other applicable requirements.
- Development of HSE training and overseeing the effective execution of training.
- Develop mental health initiatives including mental health first-aid.
- Conduct internal HSE audits to ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and other federal, state, and local requirements.
- Lead near-miss and incident investigations to identify root causes, support the development of corrective actions, and monitor the completion of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Responsible for all injury management and Workers Compensation claim management
- Develop and implement project Health and Safety Plans; conduct site/project site visits and safety audits.
- Provide technical input to projects within area(s) of expertise.
- Ensure HSE risks are identified and appropriately managed with all projects.
- Act as the point of contact on all project related risks, safety concerns, and incidents.
- Provide guidance to field safety personnel, including site safety and health officers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experienced leader with appropriate industry experience.
- Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and operational focus.
- Desire and drive to develop and grow a corporate safety culture.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules governing a range of vertical and civil construction, both government and private. (OSHA 1926, 1910, USACE EM385-1-1.)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal rela ionships and situations.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in an Alaska Native Corporation multi-business environment.
- Ability to travel up to 50% in both large and small commercial aircraft.
Who is STG Pacific looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- You will have a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related field.
- Five (5) years of cumulative Safety experience, within the last 10 years, managing or implementing a safety program on projects similar in industry type, size, and complexity of our projects. Demonstrated experience in effective case management.
- You have a certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation or ability to achieve within 1 year of hire; experience, education, and other BCSP credentials may be considered in lieu of a CSP.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations (1926 and 1910).
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of USACE EM385-1-1.
- Experience in leading cultural change.
- Valid state drivers license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of STG Pacifics Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
