ASM Global Banquet Server (PT) in Anchorage, Alaska

POSITION: Banquet Server – Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Director of Food/Beverage/Manager/Captain

FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt

PAY: $10.14 + Service Charge

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Banquet Server – Part Time with ASM Global/Anchorage Convention Centers.

Primary responsibility is to serve food, cocktails, and beverages while providing outstanding personal service to our patrons. A banquet server must have a TAPS or TIPS and Food Handler certification as required by Municipality/State law.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides quality guest service per SMG Service Standards.

  • Reports to work in appropriate uniform, for assigned location.

  • Anticipates guests’ needs.

  • Obtains and follows pre-event instructions given by the Banquet Captain and/or F&B Management.

  • May be assigned an alcohol service station and/or carving station.

  • Sets tables as assigned.

  • Serves, clears, and busses assigned tables per instructions and guidelines set forth by the Banquet Captain/F&B Management.

  • Perform closing work assignments as directed by the Banquet Captain/F&B Management.

  • To eliminate breakage, ability to separate china, glassware & silverware as directed by F&B Management/Banquet Captain, via rolling racks or oval serving trays.

  • Carries out duties as assigned by Banquet Captain/F&B Management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal Health Department standards

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding alcohol service

  • Must have an outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with patrons & employees

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

  • Work hours may range from very early morning to late night.

  • Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work may be required.

  • Work will be performed in many different areas of the Anchorage Convention Centers, as well as off-premises, including the Alaska Railroad.

  • Work will involve a considerable amount of walking, lifting, and other high-exertion activities.

  • Must be able to frequently lift at least 30 lbs. and can carry a service oval tray with up to (8) eight loaded entrée plates/covers throughout the course of an entire event.

  • Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment.

  • Flexibility is required, as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand.

  • Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction.

  • Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships.

  • Other duties may be assigned.
