Job Level Descriptions:
Level I - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to entry level employees.
Level II - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level I positions.
Senior - Highly experienced in the position. Advanced awareness of the technical needs of controls system programming, integrations to other systems, and very sophisticated HVAC strategies if working in the control field.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Support installation and startup personnel with adjustments to software as required or engage a software engineer for support.
Identifies and resolves potential project issues.
Coordinates with Subcontractors or internal installation team to achieve maximum value in installations including point to point check out and all the documentation that is involved.
Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
Debug mechanical and installation issues that can come up when executing the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls.
Communicate with external organizations as required such as commissioning agents, fire marshals, consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to facilitate the pre-commissioning and commissioning process.
Implement enhancements to existing applications to enhance functionality and efficiency.
Review and implement controls database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Specialist and Software engineer, project specifications, or other applicable sources.
Review and implement the specialized software required for a complete integrated building automation system or energy management system.
Facilitate the integration of multiple proprietary systems to make them talk on a unified platform using specialized software and specialized code where required. Ensure software engineer and hardware engineer have identified those systems and provided the proper database for the integration.
Provide and ensure implementation of startup documentation including, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
Implement specialized software to write custom applications for building performance or provides automation for system backup for ongoing building management.
Use reporting software to follow-up on building performance and make adjustments to enhance the performance and tuning of the system.
Use existing software and develop enhancements to provide additional functionality for energy reporting and graphic interfaces for customer dashboards.
Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the Climatec controls or special systems operation.
Provide input and support to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems for the engineering teams, sales team and the project manager.
Assist the Project Manager to accurately forecast costs for each area of the project and help track these over time to achieve budget and forecast goals.
Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
Provide service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility’s building engineers.
Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
Review the preparation of submittal documents and document as-built drawings for the accurate preparation of Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
Initiate the transition from Construction Operations Team to Service Operations Team. Verify that proper backups, as builts and facility performance software is in place.

Skills & Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a 2-year Associate's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in building controls or a related field.
Strong proficiency and working knowledge of SQL
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Thorough understanding of HVAC operations within a facility if working in the controls field.
Experience and expertise including but not limited to:
Understanding of computer operating systems, including MS Office Suite.
Ability to configure and debug computer and networking problems.
Experience with programming.
Proficiency with electronic testing equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
Ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
Ability to understand mechanical systems of boilers, chillers and pumping systems and other HVAC products.
Working understanding of AC power circuitry, including breakers and multi-phase power (120VAC and greater).
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to understand and empathetically address issues and perceptions, working creatively to achieve successful outcomes for customers and employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics-related studies.
Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical related studies.
Other technical experience such as military training or on-the-job training programs may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
Understanding of AutoCAD or similar program/software.
Strong awareness of Climatec culture and the culture of the industry.
Extensive experience (5+ years) with Distech, Alerton, or Tridium control systems.
Deep understanding of the DDC or special systems that control buildings, including mechanical and electrical portions of building controls.
Experience providing extensive integration support for a multitude of building systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Be able to lift and carry drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
Be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
Be able to climb several flights of stairs throughout a typical day on a construction site.
Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
