Machinist Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced machinist with expertise in operating Press Brakes to oversee the daily operations of our machine shop. This position requires a hands-on leader who is passionate about quality, efficiency, and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, set up, and maintain press brake and shear machines to perform precise bending, cutting, and shaping of metal components based on specifications.

  • Ensure machinery is calibrated correctly, perform maintenance as needed, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine the specific requirements for each job.

  • Maintain strict quality control standards for all products produced, ensuring that parts meet customer specifications and industry standards.

  • Inspect finished products to ensure proper dimensions, alignment, and finish, making adjustments to the machine as necessary to maintain precision.

  • Conduct regular audits of equipment, tools, and safety protocols to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Inspect first article parts for first run to confirm setup is correct and all specifications have been met.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 3 years of direct experience operating and setting up press brake and shear machines.

  • Strong technical knowledge of press brake and shear operations, including tool setup, adjustments, and maintenance.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.

  • Expertise in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to resolve issues with machinery or production processes.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and train a team effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including team management, training, and process optimization.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant trade school training in machine operation or manufacturing preferred.

Work Environment

Work hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays when needed. The standard shift is from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with flexibility for an hour before or after the shift. The work environment involves working with HURCO VMX42, HURCO VM10i, HWACHEON-Hi ECO35, and HURCO VMX 50 machines in a machine shop setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Anaheim, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66000.00
