Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Southern Plains Region, Anadarko Agency, Branch of Real Estate in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Responsibilities Serve as an assistant responsible for proceeding with advertisements of tracts, holds personal interviews with Indian landowners who are considering applying for the acquisition or disposal of land and for patents in fee or land partitioned and advises them concerning proposed transactions. Accepts and completes the application/intake sheet providing technical assistance and information to landowners to assure regulatory compliance. Assists in communicating to beneficiaries/lessees/other landowners and other interested parties the process, options, and the requirements involved in executing a conveyance. Assist in compiling conveyances and related documents to comply with statutory authority, laws, regulations, tribal ordinances, policies and procedures. Prepare rough draft memorandums and/or office correspondence regarding applications and case files update and/or cancellations which involve frequent selection of proper technical terminology and general knowledge of the types of land transactions executed by the Acquisition and Disposal office. Assist with a variety of administrative duties such as records management, processing correspondence, budget, reports, time and attendance. Works with automated systems to verify ownership and monitor activity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-1101). GS-5: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-4 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized that involved word processing, either solely or in combination with clerical work - for example, preparing realty correspondence, maintenance of logs and clearing and categorizing files or documents to aid in delivery of documents or files to the appropriate file format; including assisting specialists who process and approve the transfer of land title for all land acquisitions and disposal transactions, OR EDUCATION: 4 years of successful completion of a full course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, applicants must show possession of typing and office automation skills. Applicants may meet the typing requirement by passing the appropriate test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificate by the Office of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency.
