Samcor Fuel & Tobacco Deli Clerk in Anacortes, Washington

*Hours: * Up to 40 hours per week, weekend, early morning, and evenings
*Duration: * Year-Round, Part-time or Full-time
The Deli Clerk must be courteous, customer-focused, and committed to providing customers with the best food service possible. Deli clerks will clean, prep food, stock, and cook deli items for the public.
The Deli Clerk will need to have general knowledge, and practices of food safety.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares Deli items for breakfast and lunch and be prompt on timing to satisfy customers.
- Must be able to adapt to changes in menus and learn new products quickly.
- Provides excellent customer service, makes product recommendations to customers, and answers questions.
- Stock all Deli fridges, and Deli Corner. Prep for the following shift.
- Keeps Deli prep area clean, sanitized, organized, swept and mopped.
- Operates all Deli equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Temps, and records all food coming out to the hot case to ensure our customers' safety.
- Cleans and sanitizes all Deli equipment and food surfaces, including Deli display cases, Deli Corner countertops, and Deli Corner equipment.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize all pans and utensils after each cooking on shift.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from Supervisor or Manager on shift.
- Follow and complete work sheet check lists and have all side work completed by the end of shift.
- Follow all food and safety guidelines to serve deli food safely for every customer.
- Other Duties.
Minor Duties and Responsibilities:
- Light Cashiering.
- May be asked to help on store floor.
- Must pay attention to detail.
- Follow directions.
- Must have organizational skills.
- Fast paced to push out food when in high demand at busy times.
- Able to multitask.
- Needs to know basic math
- Able to communicate easily with the team, Managers/Supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Food and beverage experienced preferred.
- Food Handlers Card for Washington State.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: *Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs; able to stand (90% of time), sit (10% of time), as well as frequently stoop, squat, lift, kneel, bend, and reach, (30% of time); be physically able to move through building. *Mental/Visual Demands: Tasks involve eye-hand coordination; cash handling. Working Environment: indoors with heat and some air conditioning, may spend time in freezer while organizing product. Must be able to move around for most shifts. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Possibility of exposure to blood and bodily fluids; possibility of exposure to communicable diseases. Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
