Location of the role

This role will be based in our European HQ in Amsterdam. The EU HQ will move to Haarlem on the 24th of June 2024. Some international travel involved (up to twice per quarter)

The opportunity

As the General Counsel for EU Commercial, you will lead our legal efforts for Teva's Innovative Medicines in Europe. You will have the opportunity to bring on board an experienced Legal Counsel to help drive the success of Teva's Pivot to Growth strategy across all EU Commercial Regional functions. You will oversee and manage legal support for key departments, including Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Communications, and Government Affairs. Your expertise and leadership will be essential in ensuring Teva delivery of innovative medicines throughout Europe.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Provide strategic legal support and guidance for the launch of new medicines, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, EU regulations, and Teva policies.

  • Lead and mentor one legal counsel, ensuring effective legal support for commercial activities.

  • Oversee the drafting and negotiation of various commercial contracts (including service agreements, advertising agency agreements, market research agreements, grants & donations, etc.).

  • Supervise and support projects in the field of digital marketing and social media.

  • Ensure legal compliance for all activities related to key products & therapeutic areas, particularly in regional marketing and medical activities.

  • Provide legal guidance on (non-)promotional materials and pro-actively identify risks or possibilities in the area of unfair competition;

  • As an active member of the brand teams, proactively identify potential legal risks and assist in implementing strategies to minimize those risks;

  • Oversee administration tasks such as updating policies covering contracts & promotional activities.

  • Develop, review, and train management and key personnel on relevant legal policies.

  • Keep up to date with emerging legal trends in the EU region;

  • Contribute and advice on building and designing best legal practices and processes in the innovative area.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Law degree (Master) in one EU jurisdiction

  • Over 10 years of experience in legal practice, including at least 5 years as in-house counsel within the pharmaceutical industry , with proven experience in launching medicines

  • Ability to make bold, confident decisions and to say no when necessary to safeguard Teva’s interests

  • Ability to remain composed and effective under high-pressure situations and tight deadlines

  • Capacity to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with Teva’s growth objectives

  • Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Proactive and innovative approach to identifying and resolving legal and business challenges

  • Meticulous approach to ensure compliance with legal standards and accuracy in all legal documents and advice

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
