Job Title: Patient Service Representative

Job Description

The Patient Service Representative will assist with daily reception activities and ensure that all processes needed for patient services are initiated. This role requires effective communication with team members and patients, managing telephone and mail contact, scheduling appointments, fee collection, and explaining services and charges. The representative will also distribute materials to patients, verify insurance, and set fees based on the sliding scale fee.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily reception activities and ensure that all processes needed for patient services are initiated.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and patients all aspects of service.

  • Manage telephone and mail contact with patients.

  • Schedule appointments, collect fees, and explain services and charges for patient services.

  • Distribute materials to patients, including patient satisfaction cards, patient rights, and other appropriate materials.

  • Verify all insurance and set fees based on the sliding scale fee.

Essential Skills

  • Patient service

  • Customer service skills

  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year of front desk or CSR healthcare experience is a plus

  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus

  • Computer skills

  • Experience with EMR is a plus

  • Receptionist customer service

  • Managing patient information, charts, records, and accounts

  • Appointment scheduling and setting

  • Fee scheduling

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year of front desk or CSR healthcare experience

  • Bilingual Spanish

  • Experience with EMR systems

Work Environment

The work environment provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all who seek it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. This is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester County. The position is based on a 35-hour work week with 7 paid hours and 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Candidates are required to work 1-2 late nights a week and 1 Saturday a month if the site is open on Saturdays.
