Excelsior Orthopaedics Group Sterile Processing Technician in Amherst, New York
Job Summary
Facilitates decontamination, cleaning, assembling and sterilization of reusable instrumentation. Monitors and reports on compliance with sterilization guidelines and mandatory processes. Expedites the delivery of needed supplies, maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment to ensure operations are not adversely affected.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical material to included linen, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functional supply of materials; operate sterilization equipment.
Prepare trays according to prescribed procedures; disassemble, clean, assemble, and test instrumentation for proper functioning.
Coordinates ordering process, distribution of supplies and equipment; shipping and recovering functions, maintains inventory management processes; meets surgery center supply needs with prompt delivery; verifies working order and availability of equipment.
Ensure accuracy of inventory; prepare and assist on cycle count certifications and annual inventory; ensure the efficiency of the restocking process.
Retrieve, inspect and deliver incoming supplies and equipment.
Addresses supply and ordering problems and issues; responds to special requests as needed to accommodate needs of surgical team.
Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma/GED required.
Minimum one (1) year experience working as sterile processing technician.
Current certification preferred
Experience working in an ambulatory center preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
Position requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Involves standing and walking.
Lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
