Schedule: Tues/Wed/Thurs - 8am-4:40pm
Job Summary
Responsible to process mail as part of the medical records team. Ensures that incoming correspondence and reports are efficiently managed and provided or directed to the right recipient. Expected to learn and perform other medical records duties in order to provider coverage and added support to the overall team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Opens mail: Handles and sorts all incoming mail.
Scans documents: Digitize documents and accurately assign them to the appropriate part of system for review and action.
Routes information: Ensure timely delivery of scanned materials to the relevant team members or departments to maintain workflow efficiency.
Processes, organizes and files charts. Retrieves patient file/records as requested, may be required to locate missing charts as necessary.
Responds to information requests from physicians, attorneys, insurance carriers and government agencies. retrieves, copies and sends out Medical record documentation via mail or fax in accordance with HIPAA laws and regulations.
Utilizes scanner to inset various documentation into Electronic Medical Records.
Utilizes CD burner to create imaging CDs as needed.
Creates invoices and responds to payments received from attorneys as needed.
Maintains Team Medical Records triages, responds to phone calls and processes requests in accordance to HIPAA law and regulations.
Locates misfiled or misdirected charts. Responds to information requests by identifying and retrieving required documents.
Associates degree preferred; HS diploma or GED required.
1+ years medical office experience.
EMR experience required; MEDENT preferred.
Physical Demands
Position requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Involves standing, sitting, and walking.
Team member will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds; normal visual acuity and hearing are required.
