GE Vernova Repair Technician Production Lead in Amarillo, Texas

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support team objectives and remain focused on safety, quality, and timely execution

  • Work within product schedule requirements

  • Provide oversight on contractors as needed

  • Participate in pre-work meetings to discuss lift plans, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), schedule, hazards, and work requirements

  • Dis-assembly, repair and re-assembly of large wind turbine components

  • Troubleshoot and repair complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch / variable speed turbine components

  • Help in all areas of work preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision

  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures

  • Communicate work status to management and engineering

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED

  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical experience.

  • Minimum 2 years experience remanufacturing multiple main shaft and gearbox assemblies

Desired Characteristics:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Associates’ Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university

  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels

  • Manufacturing experience

  • Wind turbine experience

  • Gearbox, shafting and/or generator repair experience

  • Welding experience

  • Generator Tig Welding experience

  • Crane Operator experience

  • Forklift operator experience

  • Drivetrain disassembly and assembly experience

  • Quality Assurance experience

  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision

  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience

  • Experience using hydraulic power tools

  • Experience with heavy equipment with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
