Actalent Controls Engineer in Alpharetta, Georgia

Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a preference for electrical engineering, and a minimum of 5 years of experience. The engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, and commissioning custom switchgear and generator control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and commission control systems with different PLC controllers in the same system.

  • Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms.

  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to design platforms while considering industry regulations and requirements.

  • Customize PLC software and hardware templates.

  • Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources.

  • Provide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls.

  • Interact with internal and external customers to accomplish project milestones.

  • Create bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in ERP system.

  • Create PLC programs for control of generator paralleling switchgear.

  • Execute multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • 5-7 years of experience required; internships will be considered.

  • Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC PLC Programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, or Structured Text.

  • Experience in designing, testing, and commissioning control systems.

  • Expert knowledge in at least one of the following PLC platforms: M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, DSLC, Easy Gen, or LS5 Architecture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Willingness to consider candidates with a 2-year degree with 7+ years of experience.

  • Willingness to consider candidates with a Master's degree and 3+ years of experience.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a professional engineering environment, utilizing various technologies and equipment. The work schedule may include standard business hours with potential for overtime based on project requirements. The facility maintains a business casual dress code.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.57 - $41.57
