Thunder Bay Transportation Transportation Coordinator in Alpena, Michigan

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for performing a variety of clerical services including scheduling and dispatching to ensure efficient and accurate coordination of customer transportation needs.  Handles customer service functions and provides clerical assistance in support of daily operations of TBTA. 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties and Functions: An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties. These examples do not include all of the duties the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Promotes TBTA in a positive manner while coordinating with local agencies to develop transit plans for contracted agencies.

``` - Ability to utilize dispatch software programs such as but not limited to booking and editing trips, add/edit rider information, add/edit locations, assign vehicles, and assign routes. - Ability to determine bus availability, prioritize driver workload, make quick decisions and be flexible to re-routing for passenger pick up. - Communicates positively with bus patrons, parents, and general passengers while coordinating rides and developing efficient bus routing. - Notifies Transit Operations Supervisor of any safety or maintenance concerns. - Ability to operate and communicate (speak clearly and concisely) using base station or hand-held radio and enforce FCC required radio procedures to ensure radio discipline of drivers. - Assist drivers with daily checkout for verification of passenger counts fare box totals. - Complies with all applicable safety requirements, laws, and regulations concerning refueling procedures when dispatching buses. - Coordinates with General Manger for resolution of customer complaints. - Attends training and staff meetings as required. - Execution of miscellaneous office duties such as filing, general organization, assisting customers, directing internal telephone calls, etc. 

 

 

 

 

Essential functions and qualifications for employment:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Proficient in word and excel with aptitude to learn new software and systems
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people including physically and mentally challenged patrons.
  • Must present a neat and clean appearance at all times.
  • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability
  • Satisfactory criminal history check
  • Satisfactory drug screen

     

This position will be full time and will be eligible for benefits.  

Hours worked will be Monday -- Friday, no weekends or holidays.
