Merchant Excavating HR and Safety Education Coordinator in Alma, Michigan

Job Summary:

Coordination and execution of human resource and safety strategies in support of the overall business plan through policies and procedures, staff benefits, status changes, and promotes an organizational environment that values and encourages professional development, diversity, opportunities of growth, and staff development, regulating safety and human resources through consultant(s) and director.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordination of efforts that communicate and support the company's' mission and overall business plan through policies and procedures including the achievement of the overall operation objectives.
  • Collaboration with Office Manager regarding staff benefits, garnishments, and status changes of payroll.
  • Maintains confidentiality, fostering trust and rapport among employees.
  • Develops and leads educational programs and sessions on HR policies, safety practices, compliance, and professional development, supporting employee's growth and organizational standards.
  • Coordinates strategies by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, reviewing job contributions, and reviewing compensation strategies.
  • Serve as a coordinator of the company, working with regulating safety consultant(s), supervisors, and staff in maintaining a safe work environment. Maintenance includes implementing new practices/policies through training and participating with employees for the betterment of the company.
  • Collaboration with regulating safety and human resource consultant(s), and departmental supervisors regarding citations by studying and interpreting regulations and standards, conducting inspections, identifying problems, developing solutions, accompanying, and working with inspectors/consultants.
  • Develops and performs audits, oversees safety related items inventory, risk management of all positions, PPE assessments and training, applicable industry trainings, emergency preparedness response trainings, near miss, incident, and accident prevention, investigation, and reporting in correlation with the regulating safety consultant(s) and safety director.
  • Improves job knowledge in coordination with regulating safety and human resource consultant(s).
  • Contributes to organization success by welcoming related, different, and new ideas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with coordination and assistance of consultants including, but not limited to, Allied HR Solutions, American Society of Employers, and Fleet Compliance Group. Education:

High school diploma or equivalent with an associate's degree or credited certification in Human Resources and/or Education.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 1-year experience in education/HR is required.

Driver's License Requirement:

Not required, but Employee shall be responsible for their own transportation.
