Summary: Perform duties to move materials, supplies, and raw stock to designated places in the facility as needed to maintain the flow of work in various production departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.· Perform forklift safety inspection daily and note any problems or concerns. Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly. · Moves and scans stock to the appropriate staging area for further processing. · Materials handlers secure and scan outgoing packaging.· Ensure that material is removed, and packaging materials is supplied to and from manufacturing workstations. · Notify supervisor or maintenance department of equipment problems. · Notify supervisor and segregate any unserviceable containers. · Scan, stage and load & unload incoming/outgoing trucksSupervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Skills and Abilities Materials handlers must be able to work in a physically demanding role. Basic math and computer skills are necessary for the position of materials handlers. Knowledge of the inventory database used in an organization is helpful, but workers may learn on the job. The individual must show that they have high integrity, honesty and capable of high stress handling situations with changing priorities. The Material Handler must have the capability to make out reports, do math, and use the computer in order to record daily events.Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations · Forklift CertificationPhysical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods continuously, and squat while lifting occasionally. This position requires good vision necessary for driving forklift truck using traffic mirrors and stop signs. Continuous mental and visual attention is required to keep product moving in the supply chain while maintaining accurate inventory transactions involving diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and extreme temperatures in the plant environment.
