DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: As an S&T Research Chemist, Entry, you will conduct research and development of new coating technologies as part of the Functional Coatings Formulation Team at PPG's Coatings Innovation Center. You will develop test methods and formulate new products with unique properties for PPG, such as nonstick coatings for cookware/bakeware, high durability coatings for outdoor applications, or flexible, corrosion-resistant coatings for packaging. You will work with other team members to design and carry out experiments and analyze results via statistical methodologies.
Key Responsibilities * Work in a laboratory environment formulating new coating technologies. * Develop new tools, capabilities and methods for functional coatings. * Follow experimental procedures and generate reliable data. * Provide independent thought and contribute to/design experiments. * Maintain working relationships with relevant global colleagues across PPG. * Take ownership of projects, guide fundamental understanding of structure-property relationships and formulation factors of coatings. * Communicate progress on projects to technical and business leadership. * Conduct literature reviews to support projects. * Participate in IP landscapes and drafting of patent applications . * Ensure a safe and clean lab environment. * Write reports, give presentations, and lead discussions and work in a team as a contributor or leader
Qualifications * B.S. in a technical field such as Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry is required.
