Job Summary The Quality Manager actively participates in and supports a work environment that is focused on lean and continuous improvement activities. Efforts are focused on both internal measures (scrap and rework reduction) and external measures (customer PPM, customer complaints, warranty returns, and supplier quality concerns). Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers and suppliers on quality related concerns, quality systems improvement, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Coordinate activities for customer production part submission and approval (PPAP).
  • Coordinate activities for supplier part submission and approval and layout of new parts in the workflow.
  • Coordinate safe launch activities.
  • Lead problem solving activities to address customer and internal quality concerns.
  • Facilitate projects and initiatives to address quality concerns.
  • Lead and participate in problem solving activities to address deficiencies in production performance and factors impacting the attainment of goals.
  • Communicate with external and internal customers to resolve production performance issues.
  • Lead and participate in proactive continuous improvement activities including scrap reduction and cost reduction.
  • Contribute waste elimination suggestions and variation reduction initiatives.
  • Work with customers and suppliers to establish visual and functional quality standards.
  • Plant leader and representative for ISO 9000 / ISO 14000 system.
  • Create and maintain quality system documentation including work instructions, control plans, and check sheets.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of FMEAs.
  • Travel as needed to customer and supplier locations.
  • Train associates to quality standards and processes.
  • Support direct and dotted line reports, Quality Engineer, Quality Supervisor, Quality Auditors and support department team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt designation preferred
  • Quality Engineer Certification (CQE) a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality manager role
  • 3 years of experience using and applying lean manufacturing tools in a manufacturing environment
  • Plastics experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities required
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organize and accurate in work
  • Experience as an ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or TS 16949 auditor a plus
  • Experience with a FARO arm

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to talk, hear, sit; and use hands to type and write. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. Occasionally the employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and reach with hands and arms (e.g. climbing stairs, filing paperwork at, above, and below shoulder height). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects such as boxes of 15-49 pounds. May need to lift and/or move objects above 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus to watch video monitor. The employee is required to work in an office environment with frequent visits to the production areas which are not climate controlled.
