The Department of Transportation is in search of a meticulous Purchasing Agent to oversee procurement tasks in the Lehigh County Maintenance District. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In the role of a Purchasing agent, you will be responsible for executing thorough purchasing tasks which include assessing requisitions, creating bid documents, evaluating and granting bids, as well as drafting contracts and purchase orders. All activities must adhere to the purchasing regulations of the Commonwealth and the purchasing policies of both the Commonwealth and the Department. This position also involves interacting with requisitioners, receivers, vendors, district office fiscal and purchasing personnel, the Comptroller's Office, and the Office of Chief Counsel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position may require overtime, shift work, and travel. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Additional Requirements:

You must possess experience obtaining three bids for comparisons of services and materials. You must possess experience resolving defective merchandise and arranging for credit and/or returns. You must possess experience tracking necessary paperwork to resolve internal audits questions and/or investigations. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
