DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will handle engineering tasks within the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit (HOP) to ensure that all applications meet the required standards, policies, guidelines, and deadlines. You will evaluate designs for new driveways to ensure they comply with regulations and engineering guidelines. Additionally, you will hold meetings with applicants, staff, consultants, and local authorities regarding access to highway rights of way. You will also assist County Maintenance Organizations with driveway issues that pose safety risks, such as water or ice accumulation. Your responsibilities include processing occupancy permits, maintaining records, managing fees, and preparing reports. You will assess the need for security measures, such as bank letters of credit, based on the proposed work's scope and engineering estimates. Furthermore, you will review insurance documents for permitted projects and train staff on using various measuring tools. Lastly, you will evaluate the impact of proposed developments on neighboring properties and determine the necessity of access or drainage releases.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an Adhoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
