JOB OVERVIEW

The Lead Engineer – Embedded Software role involves collaborating with a team of skilled engineers to develop and maintain elevator controller application software. This includes building software requirement specifications from ASME Codes & Standards, addressing complex customer needs, and creating innovative solutions. The position also requires interfacing with various departments, supporting software development teams in resolving critical issues, and ensuring software quality and compliance through direct interaction with the verification and validation team.

Location : Allen, TX Requirement: Position requires Work Permit in US Hybrid schedule: 3 Days Onsite (Tue, Wed, Thu) + 2 Days Remote

JOB DUTIES:

  • Creation and maintenance of Software Requirements

  • Support Software Development on critical issues with local/onsite debugging and troubleshooting. Including developing code and supporting debugging of issues to allow for remote development.

  • Manage Software development expectations and timelines with remote and local teams to align to customer needs.

  • Interface directly with verification and validation in support of Software Testing including Requirements support, debug support, resolution of Software Bugs, and verification of test expectations.

  • Innovate, develop, and maintain elevator controller application software solutions

  • Work together with team of highly skilled software engineers, system engineers, and testing engineers on embedded software as part of one KONE Team.

  • Seek new innovative methods to develop and support software development

  • Proactive engagement with software development teams and product owners to align development actions to KONE and customer needs

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors/master’s or equivalent knowledge in software engineering, electronics, electrical/computer engineering

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development with C/C++ is required

  • Proficiency in modern C++ techniques (C++20)

  • A solid understanding of embedded hardware circuits, microcontrollers, chip memory, and communication protocols like USB, I2C, UART, RS-485, and SPI

  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment

  • Independence, flexibility, a can-do attitude, and an open mindset

  • Good communication and presentation skills in English

  • A holistic understanding of Agile software development (Scrum, SAFe)

  • Fluency in reading and understanding code/coding languages

  • Ability to think in 'Linux' and overall system terms

  • Experience with Wireshark

  • Knowledge of data communication technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP/UDP, MQTT, routing protocols, LON, and serial line data communication

  • Good working knowledge of networking (VLAN, DNS, IP, Routing)

  • Proficiency in Python and Bash

  • Basic understanding of PKI and cybersecurity

  • Automation skills

The hiring range for this role is $111,000.00 USD to $152,000.00 USD. The compensation package offered will depend on the candidate’s ability to meet the requirements of the role and a range of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to their skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and location.
