The Director, Data Science & Architecture is responsible for informing the data governance and marketing technology infrastructure, guiding SHRM investments, and aligning the organization around strategic opportunities for growth through analysis and insights in collaboration with CGI (third-party partner).

This position is also responsible for informing and overseeing the full SHRM data architecture and the intake, management, and curation of current and historical data. This role serves as an integrator between the business needs and technology solutions, helping to deliver tools and methodologies to align with organizational goals.

  • In collaboration with our technology consulting partner, strengthen Data & Insights infrastructure with our IT and digitalization strategy. This includes the evaluation of new and existing infrastructure and digital technologies such as:

  • data collection methodologies

  • data manipulation and migration processes

  • data consumption for operations and decision-making,

  • marketing automation and attribution platforms that support customer engagement

  • analytics to determine both fit as well as ability to drive SHRM wide organizational improvement.

  • Direct the quality and translation standards of the data by leading data governance for the organization in collaboration with CGI (3rd party partner).

  • Collaborate on the effort to develop and manage various audience segments and product-based operational and executive dashboards in Tableau or similar platforms. Summarize data in a clear and concise manner and provide insightful analysis and commentary for management.

  • Lead the efforts to build advanced statistical models to predict customer behavior, such as Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). Interpret and communicate CLV by audience, brand, and individual as required.

  • Perform various analyses such as customer segmentation, Return on Investment modeling, lifetime value analysis, product consumption analysis, cross-channel analysis, media mix analysis, attribution analysis, and A/B testing.

  • Spearhead the team in analyzing and modeling structured data and implementing algorithms using advanced statistical and mathematical methods from statistics, machine learning, data mining, and operations research. Mine data for relevant correlations and opportunities to improve customer metrics, positioning and growth.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to increase content and experience personalization through digital initiatives that serve to improve member/customer experience.

  • Work with business units and CGI (3rd party partner) to define and prioritize high value Data & Analytics projects and opportunities

  • Direct retention and acquisition, certification and conference predictive modeling capabilities enabling more refined targeting.

  • Make cross-functional connections between analytical needs and communicate those opportunities effectively. Identify existing and recommends as appropriate reporting/analytical solutions to support marketing and communications needs to measure and optimize performance, including social monitoring, brand voice/sentiment, and media measurement.

  • In collaboration with CGI (third-party partner), research and deploy new processes and platforms to support evolving customer data needs.

  • Ensure technical and strategic alignment and operational excellence.

  • Train staff as needed on new systems such as marketing automation, attribution, etc.

  • Responsible for managing and mentoring the team.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field with at least 10 years of technology and analytics experience.

  • Preferred- Master’s or advanced degree in a related business field.

  • Preferred- 5 years of people management experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 3 years experience in customer analytics and technology-related roles.

  • Strong intellectual and business acumen; strategic thinking and problem-solving ability; excellent prioritization and project management skills.

  • Ability to engage with senior management to communicate data science work, results, and business impact.

The hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
