If yes, then come join CLA's Outsourcing services team! We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to join the Business Operations (BizOps) practice in our Alexandria, MN office. As a member of CLA's BizOps practice, you will be an integral part of the CLA client service team and will work directly with our clients to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization. In this role, you will work independently from the office and at client locations and report directly to the Principal in charge of the client relationship. You will be responsible for supervising the accounting team on each engagement which may include a combination of CLA staff and client staff. You are responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial statements and statistical information to the client's leadership team as well as implementing financial and operational best practices related to the client's specific industry. This is a full-time, long-term career opportunity serving multiple CLA clients on a permanent, part-time basis; it is not an outsourced temporary position. Job Description: Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions. Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team. Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process. Adhere to the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers. Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable. Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client's leadership. Develop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed. Review payroll and payroll tax compliance. Education/Experience: BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required. 3-5 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required. Accounting back office experience is required. Relevant experience in a specific industry is preferred but not required Public accounting experience preferred but not required. CPA certification is preferred but not required. Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is preferred. Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc). Ability to travel to local client sites. Skills/Knowledge: An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting Strong organization skills/goal orientation/self-motivation. Ability to handle pressure in a positive professional manner. Excellent interpersonal skills. Communication that is clear, concise, and considerate of the needs of others. Ability to work cooperatively with others and value the different contributions people make. Proven success in managing work and key client relationships to exceed client expectations.
